Our Garden of Learning

More than 20 years ago, dedicated teachers at Franklin embarked on a project to change the north side of the school's landscape to become a garden.  Through partnerships with the community, universities, City of Oakland and the Coast Guard; the Garden of Learning blossomed. Today, our Garden of Learning continues to thrive with our partner, Victory Garden Foundation. The garden is supported by its Peoples Victory Garden program bringing together volunteers, corporate sponsors, the community, and the Franklin Elementary family of teachers, parents, and students. We have 2 gardens: Edible and Pollinator along with a gazebo for outdoor classes, a composting system, and garden room for indoor classes.

We invite YOU to partner with us in any way you can to help the Garden of Learning to continue to thrive. This school garden website is designed to showcase our garden program. The website provides parents, students, and community members with a place to track the activities, lessons, and growing that happens in Our Garden of Learning!
